El Faro or The Lighthouse is located in Mijas Costa on the coast between Malaga and Marbella on an elevated position with commanding views of the Mediterranean sea.
It is a quiet up-market area consisting of mostly residential houses and some apartments. Shops, bars and restaurants are within walking distance, and it is within quick drive towards Marbella, Fuengirola and Puerto Banus for great nightlife.
There are several prestigious golf courses to choose from which are a short taxi ride. El Faro is a wild beach and because of its poor access it is very quiet which is perfect for a bit of privacy. El Faro’s fine sands and rocky coves also attract the odd fisherman and snorkler and provide a preserved beach which has limited services; security, sun beds, showers and chiringuitos - beach bars that serving all the traditional delicacies. During the summer months it can get very hot and quite crowded down on the beaches so make sure you have your sun cream on to protect your skin from the powerful Spanish rays and get to the beaches early.
